There is great power in partnerships and information! The truth of this adage was evident on Thursday of this week as local leaders and professionals converged upon the Hacienda Heights Community Center to witness the official launch of the SGV PowerSite. At this festive reception, real estate development professionals joined 20 cities for a demonstration of the PowerSite and an opportunity to talk about key economic development opportunities. The PowerSite demonstration followed a keynote address by Montebello City Councilmember Vanessa Delgado, who is also a highly accomplished real estate development professional.
The PowerSite www.sgvpartnership.org/members includes robust, interactive demographic and economic data on each member city for use by real estate investors and brokers. Each member City has also uploaded key economic development opportunity sites onto its PowerSite pages to stimulate interest and action by the development community. Another clear benefit is that the PowerSite includes a detailed listing of every business within the borders of each city. Yes, there certainly is power in partnerships and information!
This busy week at the Partnership also included the first meeting of the Education & Workforce Development Council at Picasso's Café. In attendance at Wednesday's meeting were representatives of four community colleges that serve the San Gabriel Valley - PCC, Citrus College, Mt. SAC, and Rio Hondo College. Cal State LA also participated. The Council is focusing on solutions to various occupational shortages and workforce gaps through Career Technical Education (CTE) initiatives. The Partnership is pleased to collaborate in this process serving as an intermediary or "bridge" between industry and educational institutions.
These are exciting times at the Partnership, and we encourage your participation and involvement.
