The San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership announced today the launch of a new regional economic development website, www.sgvbusiness.com. The site provides an introduction to the region for companies considering relocating or expanding in the San Gabriel Valley.
The new site, which can be translated into English, Spanish and Chinese, highlights key growth industries and major local companies, the exceptional quality of the region’s colleges and universities, and provides basic demographic and economic data. The site also features selected listings of available development opportunities and commercial and industrial properties with links to local cities or brokers for more information.
“The attractiveness of San Gabriel Valley cities individually is multiplied exponentially when you look at what we can offer as a region,” said Cynthia Kurtz, President and CEO of the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership.
The site also focuses on the reasons companies choose to do business in SGV, sharing quotes from surveys and interviews of current business owners. Lower lease rates and proximity to Caltech and other universities were important, but businesses typically indicated that the region’s location was the biggest draw. Location benefits mentioned included easy access to ports and airports and the ability to draw employees from all over Southern California.
“We made extensive use of maps on the site,” said Amber Sommerville, Partnership Director of Marketing and Communications. “We really wanted users to get a sense of the region’s access to important business resources and close proximity to other companies in growth industries.”
The website was developed under the direction of the Partnership’s Marketing and Tourism Committee, led by Chairman Nic Fetter, Director of Marketing, Samuelson and Fetter, LLC and Vice Chairwoman Helen Romero Shaw, Public Affairs Manager, Southern California Gas Company. The committee has been engaged in planning initiatives to market the San Gabriel Valley as a unique and desirable business location for the past four years.
The site will continue to undergo additional development in coming months, including the addition of information about development opportunities along the Foothill Gold Line Extension route, a new light rail route scheduled to begin service in 2016.
