Economic Development Committee Meeting

The San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership’s Economic Development Committee welcomes you to join us at our upcoming Economic Development Committee meeting, to be held on August 30, 2023 at 10 AM.

Our Guest Speakers, Elizabeth Hull, Partner, Best Best & Krieger LLP, and Brian Moncrief, Senior Vice President, Kosmont Companies, will be discussing the Surplus Land Act (SLA). The Committee sought early input about key topics for future meetings and trainings. SLA was highlighted as a time-sensitive topic for focused training and discussion, including best practices in navigating the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) review process. Please join us and hear from two industry experts who are actively working with cities throughout California on SLA issues and challenges.

Invitation is open to City Managers, Economic/Community Development staff, and other city staff. (Limited space. Reservations required.)

What is the Surplus Land Act (SLA)? The SLA is a “right of first refusal” law that requires all local agencies to offer surplus land for sale or lease to affordable home developers and certain other entities before selling or leasing the land to any other individual or entity.
